Jeonnam Gwangju implements Chuseok holiday safety measures

Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City has launched a comprehensive safety management plan for the upcoming Chuseok holiday to ensure the safety of citizens and travelers. The measures include 24-hour disaster management, enhanced safety inspections, and emergency response systems for transportation and medical services.

Key components of the plan include:

• Safety at the Yeosu World Island Expo: Up to 661 safety personnel will be deployed daily, utilizing drones and smart safety apps to monitor high-traffic areas. • Facility Inspections: Joint public-private inspections will target 278 multi-use facilities, including traditional markets and nursing hospitals, while 503 locations will undergo fire safety investigations. • Transportation and Medical Support: To accommodate increased travel, 49 additional intercity bus trips will be added on 14 routes, and passenger ferry services will be increased in the Mokpo, Yeosu, and Wando regions. Additionally, 59 emergency medical institutions will provide 24-hour care.

Kim Jun-young, head of the Citizen Safety Office, stated that the city will prioritize citizen life and safety by meticulously inspecting risk factors and cooperating closely with relevant agencies during any disasters or accidents.
