Jeonnam Gwangju Chuseok holiday safety measures

Authorities in the Jeonnam Gwangju region have initiated comprehensive safety and emergency response measures in preparation for the 2026 Chuseok holiday.

Initial efforts by the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Fire Headquarters focused on localized rescue operations, such as a vehicle recovery in Mokpo, alongside the launch of a fire prevention campaign. This campaign targeted high-risk facilities including traditional markets, nursing homes, and logistics warehouses through safety investigations and public awareness initiatives.

As the holiday approached, the region implemented a broader safety management plan. This expanded strategy included 24-hour disaster management, the deployment of up to 661 safety personnel for the Yeosu World Island Expo using drones and smart apps, and joint inspections of hundreds of multi-use facilities. To support increased holiday travel, authorities also increased intercity bus and ferry services and ensured 59 emergency medical institutions provided 24-hour care.
