Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone brand launches new beer amid UK barley shortages

Jeremy Clarkson’s beer brand, Hawkstone, has partnered with regenerative farming company Wildfarmed to launch a new British lager called ‘Wildthing’. The collaboration includes a musical component, featuring a new version of the song ‘Wild Thing’ performed by the Hawkstone Farmers Choir and Andy Cato, co-founder of Wildfarmed.

All proceeds from the single will be donated to farming charities. The partnership aims to support soil regeneration and protect the British countryside through the use of Wildfarmed’s grains.

However, the brewing industry faces challenges as Lisa Hogan, Clarkson’s partner at Diddly Squat Farm, has warned of potential beer shortages across Britain. Following two consecutive years of drought, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board indicates that this year’s barley harvest is on track to be the poorest ever recorded. This decline in both harvest volume and quality poses a direct threat to the supply chains of brands like Hawkstone, which currently supplies over 4,000 pubs nationwide.
