Jeremy Greenwood testifies in ICAC corruption probe

During the third week of the Operation Rosny inquiry, lobbyist and former staffer Jeremy Greenwood testified before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in Sydney. The inquiry is investigating allegations of illicit political donations and branch-stacking orchestrated by a conservative Christian faction known as the Reformers.

Counsel assisting the inquiry, Peggy Dwyer, suggested that Greenwood used his advisory firm, Beckington, to funnel money from sources including Catholic Schools NSW to covertly fund the faction's efforts to elect conservative politicians. While Greenwood claimed his interactions with the group were casual and that he had no knowledge of underhanded funding arrangements, the commission presented messages and emails that suggested otherwise.

One notable piece of evidence included a 2023 text message from Greenwood to Jean-Claude Perrottet, a key Reformers member, in which Greenwood referenced giving him ‘filthy schools money’. Perrottet responded by telling him, ‘Don’t put that in writing.’ Greenwood dismissed the phrasing as a joke during his testimony.
