Jerez and Alcalá de Henares launch major urban infrastructure upgrades

The city council of Jerez in Andalusia disclosed an EU‑funded urban renewal programme worth €14.1 million, of which €11 million comes from European funds and €2 million from the municipality. The plan includes 23 projects to modernise housing, cultural facilities such as the Astoria cinema, a new museum space in the Palacio Riquelme and other public amenities, with a target of 20 % completion by 2027 and full delivery by 2030.

In the Community of Madrid, Alcalá de Henares began extensive works on a main sewer collector between Vía Complutense and Calle Torrelaguna. The €3.2 million investment, funded by the regional investment programme, will replace ageing pipelines, enlarge diameters and improve flood‑water evacuation to reduce recurring inundations in the area.

Both projects are presented by the respective mayors as essential steps to upgrade infrastructure, improve environmental resilience and boost local quality of life.
