Jerez municipal government implements €2.4 million EU tourism fund

The city council of Jerez de la Frontera has completed the deployment of €2.425 million from the EU‑backed Next Generation recovery programme. The funds support the "District Sherry" tourism sustainability plan, covering projects such as the redesign of Plaza del Mercado, removal of a public parking structure on Ronda del Caracol, greening of Plaza Belén, acquisition of a 7.5‑metre bus, installation of fibre‑optic connections in municipal buildings, digital advisory services for SMEs, and the creation of virtual tourist itineraries using augmented‑reality clips.

These actions aim to modernise the local tourism sector by combining sustainability, digitalisation, and resilience, aligning with Andalusia’s broader Strategy for Sustainable Tourism 2021‑2025 and Spain’s national tourism objectives. The council expects the improvements to boost competitiveness, attract more visitors, and stimulate balanced economic and social development in the region.
