Jerônimo Rodrigues Officially Launches Campaign for Bahia Governorship

On Saturday, 1 May, a state convention at the Parque de Exposições in Salvador formally nominated Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) as the candidate for governor of Bahia. The ticket also confirmed vice‑governor candidate Geraldo Júnior (MDB) and Senate candidates former governors Rui Costa and Jaques Wagner (both PT). The event gathered political leaders, mayors, parliamentarians and cultural figures.

Minister of Culture Margareth Menezes led a “Cortejo da Cultura” parade, bringing together artists, cultural collectives and representatives of diverse Bahian cultural expressions. Mayor Zé Luz of Jussiape attended with his municipal delegation, emphasizing the town’s alignment with the state government. He said, “Participar deste momento é reafirmar nosso compromisso com um projeto que tem demonstrado atenção às necessidades dos municípios baianos.” President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was also present, underscoring the party’s unified front ahead of the upcoming elections.
