Jesse & Joy to take hiatus after 21 years of musical career
Jesse Huerta, member of the Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy, has announced an indefinite hiatus from the musical project he shares with his sister, Joy Huerta. In a statement shared on social media, Jesse explained that the decision is personal and driven by the need to prioritize his mental and emotional health, as well as to spend more time with his family.
Despite the announcement of a pause, Jesse emphasized that he is not immediately abandoning the stage. He committed to fulfilling all previously scheduled tour dates for the “El Despecho Tour,” which includes stops in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and several other countries. The duo's current commitments are expected to conclude with a final performance at Electric Brixton in London, England, on November 17.
Jesse & Joy have enjoyed a career spanning over 21 years, earning six Latin GRAMMY awards and becoming major figures in Latin pop. While the announcement has led to speculation regarding a permanent split, Jesse noted that the music remains a fundamental part of his life and that the decision was made from a place of love and the need for personal peace.
