Jesse Klaver invites Rob Jetten to negotiate Dutch tax plan

Jesse Klaver, leader of the PRO party, has invited Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten to begin negotiations on the government's tax plan this coming week. Speaking at a party meeting in Amsterdam, Klaver expressed concern over the lack of a clear majority for the current tax package.

Klaver stated that PRO could support the plan if the government agrees to reduce the tax burden on labor by requiring a fair contribution from the wealthiest citizens. The party has expressed specific opposition to proposed tax cuts for director-major shareholders and the plan to tax realized stock profits rather than paper profits.

The minority government recently attempted to gain support from opposition parties through proposals regarding purchasing power, wealth taxation, and social security. While the government has paused planned cuts to social security, it has not yet secured enough support from left-wing or right-wing opposition to pass the full budget and tax package for next year. PRO is currently coordinating its negotiating position with the Volt party. Voting in the House of Representatives is scheduled for November 12.
