Jessica Bowie arrested for alleged ISIS-inspired plot against NY Capitol

Federal authorities have arrested 35-year-old Jessica Bowie of Albany, New York, for allegedly plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on the New York State Capitol. According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, Bowie, a Muslim convert, allegedly swore allegiance to ISIS and expressed a desire to kill state lawmakers and elected officials.

Investigators state that Bowie conducted surveillance on the state Capitol five times and was arrested after taking possession of what she believed to be an explosive device. The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force intercepted the plot after Bowie purchased materials she believed were for an explosive device. She has been charged with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
