Jet2 bars family from flight after child falls ill at Rhodes Airport

A family was barred from boarding a Jet2 flight at Rhodes Airport after their six-year-old daughter vomited once while waiting at the departure gate. The incident occurred around midnight on July 31 during a flight delay in high temperatures.

Hayley Waters, the mother, stated that the child had not been ill during the holiday and was likely exhausted due to the delay and heat. The family was informed they could not travel with Jet2 for at least 24 hours and were forced to arrange their own accommodation, transport, and an alternative flight via easyJet, costing approximately £1,000.

Jet2 maintained that staff followed standard health protocols to prevent in-flight illness. Under airline regulations, carriers are permitted to refuse boarding on health and safety grounds without a formal medical diagnosis to mitigate risks to other passengers in enclosed cabins.
