Automakers expand Brazilian SUV market with new hybrid models

Several automotive manufacturers are expanding their presence in the Brazilian market with new SUV launches. At the Festival Interlagos, Jetour debuted the G700, a premium plug-in hybrid SUV featuring a high-performance powertrain with up to 905 cv and off-road capabilities. The vehicle's heavy weight may impact driver licensing requirements, as manufacturers work to ensure configurations meet local category B regulations.

Omoda & Jaecoo is also preparing for a significant offensive with the Jaecoo 5, a compact hybrid SUV expected to launch in September. While the model offers high performance, some potential buyers have expressed dissatisfaction via a formal letter to executives regarding the simplicity of the digital instrument cluster, comparing it to motorcycle dashboards.

GWM has announced the upcoming arrival of the Tank 400, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV scheduled for the second half of 2026. The brand also introduced the Tank 300 TerraForce, a limited edition off-road series developed locally in Brazil.
