Hybrid SUV launches at Festival Interlagos

At the Festival Interlagos in São Paulo, several automotive brands showcased new plug-in hybrid SUV models for the Brazilian market.

Omoda & Jaecoo presented the Omoda 7 SHS-P, a hybrid SUV featuring a 1.5 TGDI engine and an electric motor capable of an electric-only range of up to 60 kilometers. The brand is also preparing a launch for the Jaecoo 5, a compact hybrid SUV expected in September. However, some potential buyers have expressed dissatisfaction via a formal letter to executives regarding the simplicity of the Jaecoo 5 digital instrument cluster, comparing it to “motorcycle dashboards”.

Jetour debuted the G700, a high-performance luxury plug-in hybrid SUV with a 2.0 turbo engine and two electric motors. The vehicle features a powertrain capable of up to 905 cv and off-road capabilities, including a 900 mm water wading depth. Due to the vehicle’s heavy weight, manufacturers are working to ensure configurations meet local category B licensing regulations. Jetour previously confirmed the G700 is expected to arrive in Brazil by the end of 2025 to serve as a flagship in 2026.

GWM revealed details of the Tank 400, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV scheduled for release in the second half of 2026. GWM also introduced its new off-road sub-brand, TerraForce, featuring a limited edition of 300 Tank 300 TerraForce units developed locally in Brazil.
