JetSMART launches direct Buenos Aires–Santiago del Estero flights in December
JetSMART, the ultra‑low‑cost carrier operating the newest fleet in South America, will begin a new direct route between Buenos Aires' Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Santiago del Estero on 10 December. The service will run five times a week – on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – with promotional fares of $39.100 per segment, taxes included.
The new route is part of a broader expansion plan that also includes future flights to Jujuy, Posadas, San Juan and Maceió in Brazil. JetSMART’s Country Manager in Argentina, Gonzalo Pérez Corral, said the Argentine air market still has huge growth potential, while Governor Elías Miguel Suárez praised the link for boosting tourism, investment and economic activity in the province. Commercial Manager Federico Petazzi highlighted the airline’s efficiency, reliability and affordable pricing for frequent travelers.
Santiago del Estero’s Vicecomodoro Ángel de la Paz Airport recorded about 73,000 monthly passengers between January and May 2026. Since its start, JetSMART has carried over 16 million passengers in Argentina and operates Airbus A320 and A321neo aircraft. The carrier plans to expand its fleet to 23 aircraft by the 2027 summer season, including ten A321neo jets, to meet rising demand.
