Jewel Heist at Torino Auction House Stolen Over €1 Million
In the early hours of a recent night, a group of masked thieves broke into the Sant'Agostino auction house in Torino, Italy. Bypassing the complex security system, they smashed the display windows with maces and triggered the alarm, then spent just four minutes (approximately 4:20 – 4:24) stealing jewellery, precious watches and other valuables valued at more than one million euros. Police arrived at 4:29 and the perpetrators had already fled.
The owners disclosed that the theft occurred just before a scheduled auction on 9‑10 June, which was to showcase high‑end Italian and European pieces. Some items were recovered, including a 9‑carat diamond tennis bracelet found on the showroom floor. Auction house director Vanessa Carioggia said, "Seeing the images was shocking," and the investigation is ongoing.
