JFK Terminal 5 adds Eataly, Nom Wah, Halal Guys in $100 M revamp

A $100 million concessions refresh at JFK’s Terminal 5, driven by JetBlue, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Fraport USA, is expanding the terminal to more than 40 new shops, restaurants and communal spaces. Recent openings include a 3,800‑sq‑ft Eataly restaurant, wine bar and marketplace, celebrated with a Metropolitan Opera performance, the historic 3,500‑sq‑ft Nom Wah Tea Parlor dim‑sum venue, and The Halal Guys street‑food‑turned‑restaurant. Additional New York‑based food brands such as Leon’s Bagels, Jacob’s Pickles, Melt Shop, Dunkin’ and Shake Shack have also joined the lineup, alongside retail concepts like InMotion, Park Emporium and Gameway.

The redesign also adds art installations and a new gathering area called Central Node Park, slated for completion in September, intended to serve as a vibrant, destination‑type space for travelers. Airport officials said the project “creates more than an airport experience, reflecting the spirit of New York” and aims to enhance passenger comfort and connection before take‑off.
