Student protests in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations have intensified, leading to a planned march toward the state Assembly in Ranchi. The agitation, which has lasted over 16 days, centers on demands for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination.

In response to the unrest, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to probe potential corruption and illegal financial transactions. Additionally, three members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC)—Ajeeta Bhattacharya, Anima Hansda, and Jamal Ahmed—resigned following summons from the state CID.

While the state government claims to have met 98% of student demands—including the cancellation of the 14th JPSC examination and proposals for ED and CID investigations—protesters have rejected these offers. They maintain that the government lacks the authority to cancel the CGL exam due to judicial oversight and continue to insist on a CBI-led inquiry. The situation remains tense, with police deploying water cannons, lathi charges, and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNS near the Assembly to manage the crowds.
