Ranchi student exam protest

On 7 August 2026, the All India Students' Association (AISA) led a march in Ranchi, Jharkhand, demanding the cancellation of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment exams over alleged irregularities. The protest, now in its 14th day, featured an indefinite hunger strike by six students and support from other left‑leaning student groups. During the rally, AISA president Neha Bora was struck with ink by an unidentified individual; police detained the assailant and AISA accused the act of being orchestrated by BJP‑aligned forces. Bora said the attack would not deter the movement.

Later the same day, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) responded to AISA’s allegations, calling them “baseless, misleading and politically motivated.” ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said AISA was using the ink‑throwing incident to divert attention from genuine student concerns and to gain political mileage, urging an impartial legal investigation.
