Jharkhand government offers up to 90% subsidy for livestock farming

The Jharkhand government is offering subsidies of up to 90 percent through the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana to encourage animal husbandry among rural residents, farmers, and unemployed youth. The scheme aims to create sustainable sources of income and reduce migration from rural areas to cities.

Under the program, various livestock units are provided. For goat rearing, beneficiaries receive eight females and two males. Poultry options include 500 broiler chickens for meat production or 400 layer chickens for egg production. Other supported activities include cow rearing, pig development, duck farming, and sheep rearing. The government also provides assistance for essential requirements such as sheds, cages, and feed.

To be eligible, applicants must be permanent residents of Jharkhand. Interested individuals in areas like Domchanch and Deoghar can apply through local animal hospitals. Required documentation includes identity proof, residence certificates, and bank account details. Officials noted that selected beneficiaries will undergo inspections of their facilities, including sheds and water arrangements, to ensure the welfare of the animals.
