Jharkhand strengthens security and services for month‑long Shravani Mela pilgrimage

The Eastern Railway has upgraded security at Jasidih station in Jharkhand ahead of the month‑long Shravani Mela, deploying AI‑enabled face‑recognition cameras, additional personnel and crowd‑management infrastructure to handle an estimated daily flow of up to 100,000 pilgrims.

The festival, set to begin on July 30, draws millions of Shiva devotees undertaking the Kanwar Yatra to Baba Baidyanath Dham. Chief Minister Hemant Soren highlighted the event’s cultural and economic significance, noting extensive preparations in sanitation, healthcare, and transportation to ensure a safe pilgrimage experience and to support local businesses.

Coordinated meetings among railway officials, police forces and civil administration aim to maintain seamless passenger movement, emergency response and inter‑agency communication throughout the mela period.
