The Jharkhand High Court has issued interim stays on several government notifications that cancelled recruitment examinations. The state government had previously decided to cancel 22 recruitment examinations following a CID investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption. The court has directed the state government to file a detailed response regarding the grounds for these cancellations and the findings of the investigation by September 7, with the next hearing scheduled for September 15.

The legal developments have triggered significant unrest. Student groups, such as the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, have accused the Hemant Soren administration of “deceiving” aspirants and failing to defend its decisions in court. Protests have erupted across Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Giridih, involving marches and the burning of effigies of the Chief Minister and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. These demonstrations have led to clashes with police, resulting in multiple FIRs against dozens of individuals for allegedly obstructing government work and violating protest route norms.
