Jiří Macháček celebrates 60th birthday at Karlovy Vary Film Festival

Actor and singer Jiří Macháček marked his 60th birthday during the 60th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The celebration continued late into the night at the Embassy venue, with numerous Czech celebrities—including Jitka Schneiderová, Jan Dolanský, Ester Geislerová and Jan Cina—joining the party. Host Kryštof Mucha, director of the festival, described the event as lively and noted that Macháček returned home around eight in the morning.

A charity auction of Macháček’s personal items raised funds for the Vize 97 foundation, the festival’s charitable partner this year. The festivities featured a mix of indoor and outdoor gatherings, a charitable draw, and moments of humor such as Dagmar Havlová sharing a drink with her dog. The party attracted both industry veterans and younger participants, highlighting the festival’s role as a cultural hub in the Czech Republic.
