Priessnitzovy spas in Jeseník report over 100 cases of illness

More than 110 clients and visitors of the Priessnitzovy medicinal spas in Jeseník have fallen ill with acute gastrointestinal issues. The Olomouc Regional Hygiene Station has recorded 111 cases of symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, which began increasing around August 7.

Preliminary laboratory results have confirmed the presence of noroviruses in one clinical sample. Hygienists are continuing to investigate the exact source of the infection, which could potentially be a staff member or contaminated food.

In response, the spa has implemented anti-epidemic measures, including increased disinfection of surfaces and restrooms, monitoring the health of employees, and testing food samples. While six individuals required transport to the hospital during the peak of the outbreak, the spa director, Roman Provazník, stated that the facility remains in normal operation and that most cases have been mild.
