Jihlava to plant 90 trees to honor Václav Havel

The city of Jihlava will host the 'Alej svobody Havel 90' project, involving the planting of 90 new trees at the Skalka location. The initiative, supported by a 450,000 CZK contribution from the Partnerství Foundation, commemorates the 90th anniversary of the birth of Václav Havel and honors the values of the Velvet Revolution.

The planting event is scheduled for Saturday, November 14. The selection of trees includes fruit trees such as apple, pear, plum, and cherry, alongside long-lived deciduous species. To foster a personal connection to the environment, participants are encouraged to register and actively participate in the planting process, including digging the holes themselves under the supervision of experts.

This project aims to provide ecological benefits, such as water retention and soil protection, while serving as a symbolic memorial. The new grove will extend the existing tree alley established in 2021.
