Jingyu Jin sentenced for operating human trafficking ring in Michigan

A Chinese national, Jingyu Jin, has been sentenced to a term ranging from 40 months to 20 years in prison for operating a large-scale human trafficking and sex exploitation ring in Michigan.

Jin was found guilty of conspiracy to operate a criminal organization, money laundering, and human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution. Investigators determined that Jin owned massage parlors in St. Clair Shores and Sterling Heights, which served as the base for the enterprise. Authorities described the operation as one of the largest forced commercial sex enterprises in the state.

According to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, victims from South Korea and China were transported across the ocean to Michigan and forced into prostitution. During searches of the massage studios, law enforcement rescued several women of South Korean and Chinese nationality.
