Middle East crude oil exports recover toward pre-conflict levels

Global oil markets are experiencing significant shifts as Middle Eastern crude exports recover. Data from Kpler indicates that crude oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz have reached levels comparable to, or even slightly exceeding, pre-conflict averages. This recovery is spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, which has increased its East-West pipeline throughput to at least 3.5 million barrels per day, more than doubling its September exports compared to August.

Despite the recovery in crude flows, refined product availability remains constrained. In the Middle East, gasoline exports represent only about 19 percent of pre-war levels. Additionally, analysts at Standard Chartered have raised their oil price forecasts, citing persistent instability and thin supply buffers, predicting Brent crude could average $92.00 per barrel in 2026.

In Asia, analysts have lowered China's fourth-quarter crude import forecast by approximately 400,000 barrels per day due to high shipping costs and reduced Iranian supply pressure. Meanwhile, in India, private fuel retailers Jio-bp and Nayara Energy have implemented diesel purchase caps—ranging from 50 to 200 liters per customer—as industrial buyers shift toward cheaper retail pumps, straining local inventories.
