J.J. McCarthy leads New York Giants to overtime victory over Houston Texans

New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy led his team to a 27-21 overtime victory against the Houston Texans in Week 7. Making his first start since being traded from the Minnesota Vikings, the 23-year-old completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards with a 99.1 passer rating.

While McCarthy did not record a touchdown or an interception, he orchestrated four scoring drives and connected with receivers Malik Nabers and Malachi Fields for significant gains. The game-winning score came via a 30-yard rushing touchdown by running back Devin Singletary in overtime.

Following the win, McCarthy emphasized his focus on team success, stating, “Truly the only stat I care about is going 1-0.” The victory moves the Giants to a 4-2-1 record.
