Jammu & Kashmir security forces ready for 2026 Amarnath and Vaishno Devi pilgrimages

Security officials in Jammu and Kashmir have conducted a series of high‑level reviews and drills ahead of the 2026 Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY‑2026) and the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.

At Katra, Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma chaired a joint security review with the Army, CRPF, Intelligence Bureau, CID, Railways and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The meeting examined CCTV coverage, checkpoint deployment, crowd‑management plans and emergency response capabilities along the pilgrimage route.

In Anantnag, police carried out an anti‑drone mock drill simulating a rogue UAV on the GDC Chowk‑Khanabal‑Sanal Crossing stretch. Teams tested SOPs for detection, communication with control rooms and rapid neutralisation of the simulated threat.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat led a review in Ganderbal that brought together the Kilo Force, CRPF, SSB, BSF and ITBP. Officers presented updates on ridge domination, forward observation posts, QR‑code verification for service providers, enhanced medical facilities and ongoing counter‑terrorism operations to ensure an incident‑free pilgrimage for the expected lakhs of devotees.
