JKJAAC warns of rising unrest and militancy risk in PoJK

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has accused the Pakistani government of fostering conditions in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) that mirror the unrest seen in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The group warned that the administration’s handling of dissent and protests could potentially drive the population toward militancy.

In statements attributed to Qaiser Khan, the JKJAAC criticized high-ranking officials, including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, alleging their measures have failed to prevent militant attacks in other provinces.

Regarding the situation in PoJK specifically, the group alleged that the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police have employed excessive force against protesters. They further claimed that civilians and journalists have been subjected to arbitrary detentions, raids, and coercive measures. The region remains tense due to ongoing disputes regarding governance, law and order, and the government’s response to public demands.
