Joaquín Levinton faces investigation over sexual abuse allegations
Argentine singer and television personality Joaquín Levinton is under judicial investigation following a sexual abuse allegation made by a woman identified as Paula. The complainant alleges that during an informal relationship between 2015 and 2020, she was forced to consume cocaine and engage in sexual acts, including filmed encounters, without consent.
After a jurisdictional dispute between judges Carlos Bruniard and Alejandra Provitola, the Special Chamber of the Criminal and Correctional Court ruled that Provitola's Court No. 6 will lead the investigation. This decision unifies the current complaint with a previous 2023 case that had been archived because the complainant failed to appear for proceedings.
Levinton has publicly denied the accusations, stating he has provided evidence to support his innocence, including travel documentation to place him in a different city during one of the alleged incidents. He recently returned to his role as a judge on the television program ‘Es mi sueño’, describing the situation as a ‘nightmare’ but expressing gratitude for public support.
New developments include the release of a 2023 phone recording in which the complainant reportedly describes a ‘moment of anger’ rather than a threat, and reports that the complainant has lost her job as a medical representative due to the public exposure of the case.
