Job seekers find workplace personality adaptation unfair

A recent survey by Express Employment Professionals and Harris Poll reveals that while 98% of job seekers view adapting to workplace culture as important, more than half consider the expectation unfair.

Data shows that 67% of job seekers have altered aspects of their personality to fit into a professional environment, and 63% report that their workplace persona differs significantly from their everyday personality. Younger generations report the highest rates of adaptation: 80% of Gen Z respondents and 69% of Millennials have changed their personalities for work.

Despite these tensions, 86% of respondents view personality adaptability as a core professional skill, and 83% believe employees who cannot or will not adjust may struggle to remain with a company.
