Johann Zarco targets MotoGP return at Aragon Grand Prix

MotoGP rider Johann Zarco is targeting a return to competition at the Aragon Grand Prix, scheduled for August 28–30, 2026. This comeback follows a hiatus of over 100 days due to serious left knee ligament injuries sustained during a crash at the Barcelona Grand Prix in May.

Zarco’s recovery has progressed faster than initially expected. Instead of undergoing surgery, his medical team opted for a conservative approach involving progressive rehabilitation. His training included using a Supermoto and a Honda CBR1000RR to rebuild strength and manage inflammation.

His return remains contingent on passing a mandatory medical examination conducted by MotoGP Medical Director Dr. Angel Charte at the circuit. LCR Honda has confirmed that Cal Crutchlow, who has been filling in for Zarco over the last six rounds, will remain on standby as a backup for the event.
