Johann Zarco tests MotoGP bike three months after Barcelona crash

French rider Johann Zarco suffered a severe left‑knee injury during the Catalonia Grand Prix in Barcelona on 17 May, after a collision that involved Alex Márquez and Pedro Acosta and left his leg trapped in a Ducati. Initial medical advice considered surgery, but a skin‑burn complication delayed the operation and Zarco opted for a non‑surgical, conservative treatment.

After months of gym and cycling work, Zarco completed his first on‑track test in nearly three months, riding a street‑legal Honda RC213V at the Circuit Andorra – Pas de la Casa. The test complies with MotoGP rules that allow a private re‑adaptation session for riders absent for more than 45 days or three consecutive races. LCR Honda coordinated the session with Honda, which can run the test on any approved circuit that will not host a Grand Prix within the next eight weeks. The rider hopes to return to competition later this season, with the medical team preferring a debut at the San Marino Grand Prix in September rather than the earlier Aragón round.
