Johann Zarco's rapid knee ligament recovery after Catalan GP crash

French MotoGP rider Johann Zarco suffered a severe crash at the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona when his leg was caught in the rear wheel of Francesco Bagnaia's Ducati. The incident left him with two torn knee ligaments, a torn meniscus, an ankle injury and burns from the exhaust pipe. LCR Honda confirmed that surgery will not be required and that the ligaments are healing faster than expected. "Two of the ligaments recovered and are healing very, very well. It's a bit of a miracle," Zarco said in an interview with Canal+ France.

Zarco has already resumed light training and plans to return to bike work in August, aiming to be race‑fit before the season’s end. He will miss the British Grand Prix, with Cal Crutchlow standing in for him, and will face a double long‑lap penalty on his first race back. The crash has also prompted MotoGP teams to consider increasing the distance between grid rows to improve safety at the first corner.
