Johann Zarco's serious leg injuries postpone surgery and sideline him from upcoming MotoGP events

Two weeks after a high‑speed crash at the Catalan Grand Prix, French MotoGP rider Johann Zarco confirmed he suffered multiple injuries to his left leg, including damage to the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, the medial meniscus and a fibular tear. A deep burn under the knee also requires the operation to be delayed to avoid infection risk. Zarco said his leg is improving but he must wait for the initial trauma to subside before surgery can be performed.

The injuries mean Zarco will miss the Suzuka 8‑Hour race in July, a decision confirmed by his LCR team manager Lucio Cecchinello, who expects a recovery period of several months. LCR has yet to name a permanent replacement for the Hungarian GP, having briefly called on Cal Crutchlow, whose own attempt ended early due to a shoulder injury. Zarco remains optimistic about returning to full fitness, but his immediate racing calendar is halted.
