Johanneum Hospital in Wildeshausen evacuated following power outage

A major power outage at the Johanneum Hospital in Wildeshausen, Lower Saxony, triggered a large-scale emergency operation on Friday morning, August 28. The outage occurred around 9:15 a.m., necessitating the evacuation of patients to ensure their safety.

Critical patients, including highly vulnerable individuals and pregnant women, were prioritized for transfer to surrounding clinics. The rescue operation involved a significant deployment of emergency services, including two rescue helicopters and approximately a dozen ambulances from the Oldenburg district and neighboring regions.

Fire departments were also on site to manage fire protection, as the power failure briefly disabled the hospital's fire alarm system. While a small area of the clinic remained powered by an emergency generator, officials decided on a broad evacuation due to the uncertainty regarding the duration of the outage. No injuries were reported during the incident.
