John Herdman Calls Up Hokky Caraka for Indonesia AFF 2026 Squad Amid Village Match Clip

Canada-born coach John Herdman announced a 23‑player training camp for the Indonesia national team ahead of the AFF Championship 2026. The camp ran from 26 to 30 May and featured intensive drills and internal matches to decide the final squad.

Persita Tangerang striker Hokky Caraka, 21, was among those called up. A video later surfaced showing Caraka taking part in a local "tarkam" (village) competition, sparking discussion about his focus ahead of the national team program. Herdman said the camp offers a crucial chance for domestic players to prove themselves and that performances during this period will influence the squad that will also join the players selected for the FIFA June 2026 matchday.

The squad will be combined with players already earmarked for the upcoming FIFA fixtures, such as Rizky Ridho, Ivar Jenner and Beckham Putra Nugraha.
