John Malkovich receives 14-minute ovation at Venice Film Festival
Actor John Malkovich received a 14-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival for the film ‘Wild Horse Nine’. While the long applause was interpreted by many as a sign of deep emotion, Malkovich later clarified to E! News that his tears were actually caused by an eye allergy rather than a mystical moment of moved sentiment.
Directed by Martin McDonagh, the film features Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as CIA agents in 1973 Chile, set just before the coup. The production also stars Steve Buscemi. Following the enthusiastic reception, the 72-year-old Malkovich was awarded the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor.
