John Turturro receives Oscar buzz for ‘The Only Living Pickpocket in New York’

Actor John Turturro is receiving significant awards season attention for his performance in ‘The Only Living Pickpocket in New York’, a film written and directed by Noah Segan. The film follows Harry, an aging Bronx pickpocket navigating a changing New York City while caring for his catatonic wife.

Critics have described Turturro’s portrayal as a ‘star performance’ and his career best. Sony Pictures Classics is reportedly positioning the role for an Academy Award campaign. Despite a prolific career spanning over 40 years and frequent collaborations with the Coen brothers, Turturro has yet to receive an Oscar nomination.
