John Turturro stars in The Only Living Pickpocket in New York

The film “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York,” written and directed by Noah Segan, features John Turturro as Harry, an old-school thief navigating a modern world dominated by cryptocurrency. The plot follows Harry after he unwittingly steals a flash drive from a man with dangerous connections, leading to a situation where his comatose wife is held hostage.

To prepare for the role, Turturro worked with professional pickpocket and entertainer Apollo Robbins, who served as a theft consultant for the production. Robbins helped the actor develop techniques for the character’s steals and taught him how to alter his gait to blend into crowds after a theft.

The production also features performances by Giancarlo Esposito and Steve Buscemi. Critics have noted the film’s focus on character studies and its sincere, softhearted tone despite the crime thriller premise.
