Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi Faces Criticism Over Hospital Pasir Gudang Doctor Shortage

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi highlighted a long‑standing shortage of doctors and health staff at the newly opened Hospital Pasir Gudang, urging authorities to act quickly for patients' benefit. Chair of the Johor Women, Family and Community Development Committee, Hasrunizah Hassan defended the Menteri Besar's remarks, saying they reflect public concerns and are not an attack on health workers, and called for immediate measures to improve staffing and working conditions.

Former state Public Works chairman Mohd Solihan Badri criticised Onn Hafiz's approach, arguing that the issue cannot be solved by media statements alone. He urged the state to submit formal applications to the Ministry of Health, the Public Service Department and the federal government, and to coordinate with relevant agencies to address the staffing gap.

Both officials stressed the need for swift action to ensure quality care at Hospital Pasir Gudang.
