Johor State Election: 1,000+ Chinese Leaders Back BN as PAS Flags NGO Voter Drive

More than 1,000 Chinese community leaders attended a Barisan Nasional dinner in Kluang, signalling growing support for the coalition ahead of the Johor state election. MCA president Wee Ka Siong said the gathering demonstrated confidence in BN and pledged to protect the tax‑exemption status of TAR UMT and UTAR, noting the federal government extended the exemption from three to ten years after pressure from the community.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang warned that 134 NGOs are urging Chinese voters to turn out while many Malays are staying home, cautioning that reduced Malay turnout could weaken the community's political influence. He urged Malay unity and said PAS is prepared to set aside historic disputes with UMNO to maintain Malay political power.
