Johor State Urges Federal Action on Hospital Staff Shortages

UMNO leaders in Johor stressed that the push for better health services in the state is not a political stunt but a duty to ensure quality care. spokesperson Md Israk Abdullah backed the Johor Menteri Besar’s stance on the staffing crisis at Hospital Pasir Gudang and highlighted ongoing state efforts to upgrade facilities, fund locum doctors and support health workers. He noted that while recruitment and placement of staff fall under the federal Ministry of Health, Public Service Department, Civil Service Commission and Treasury, the state has spent tens of millions of ringgit on upgrades and welfare initiatives. The party urged the federal government to translate its commitments into concrete actions to fill long‑standing vacancies at Hospital Pasir Gudang, Hospital Sultanah Aminah and Hospital Sultan Ismail, warning that shortages strain doctors, nurses and other staff and affect service delivery to the public.
