Joint Expeditionary Force conducts major Arctic and Baltic exercises
Hundreds of British service personnel have participated in Exercise Lion Protector 26, a major joint military drill led by the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). The exercises took place across the North Atlantic, the High North, and the Baltic Sea.
Key activities included amphibious landings, maritime blockades, and the protection of critical infrastructure, such as energy facilities and undersea cables. In a significant milestone, Royal Marines conducted training on the Faroe Islands alongside Danish troops, marking their first exercise in the territory since World War II.
The exercise concludes alongside a JEF defense ministers' summit in Iceland. UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting is expected to meet with counterparts from JEF member nations, as well as representatives from Ukraine and Canada, to discuss security, hybrid threats, and support for Ukraine.
