Jombang and East Java earn unemployment‑reduction awards, receive central‑government incentives
The government of Jombang Regency was recognized as one of the three best districts in the Jawa‑Bali region for reducing unemployment, receiving a Rp1 billion fiscal incentive. The award was presented by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at a ceremony in Yogyakarta, where Regent Warsubi pledged to use the funds for job creation, youth training and UMKM development.
Jawa Timur Province also secured the top‑ranking award in the same competition, earning a Rp3 billion incentive. Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa received the honor from Djamari, highlighting the province’s decline in open unemployment to 3.55 percent and the success of vocational‑education link‑and‑match programs that have reduced SMK graduate unemployment. She noted expanded cooperation with 13 overseas destinations to place graduates abroad.
Both awards reflect the central government’s push to reward local administrations that achieve measurable declines in unemployment through coordinated policy, training and investment initiatives.
