Indonesia Faces Series of Fires Across Several Regions
On July 25‑26, 2026, multiple fire incidents were reported across Indonesia. In Ambon, a suspected electrical short ignited a blaze that destroyed four street stalls on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani; five fire‑engine units responded and the fire was extinguished within an hour with no casualties.
In Bantul's Wukirsari sub‑district, a third seasonal land fire this year burned about one hectare of vegetation. Authorities attributed the fire to human activity such as discarded cigarettes or waste burning, and two fire‑engine units with ten personnel contained it after several hours, also with no injuries.
A feed‑factory in Jombang, East Java, has been burning for more than 12 hours. The plant, processing corn stalks into animal feed, faced a prolonged blaze because of large amounts of dry corn material. Three fire‑engine units and additional water‑supply trucks were deployed; no deaths were reported.
In Ngawi's Bukit Gogor area, a land fire affected roughly five hectares of a 78‑hectare plot. Police, army personnel and local residents collaborated after a 110‑call center report to extinguish the fire, preventing wider spread. The cause remains under investigation.
A separate fire broke out on the Pejagan‑Brebes toll road (KM 248) in Central Java. Rapid response by Polres Brebes patrol units using an armoured water cannon contained the blaze before it could endanger traffic. Again, there were no casualties.
