Jonas Vingegaard ends 2026 season due to Tour de France injury
Professional cyclist Jonas Vingegaard will not compete for the remainder of the 2026 season. His team, Visma | Lease a Bike, confirmed that the two-time Tour de France winner is still suffering from the consequences of a broken collarbone sustained during a crash on stage 15 of the Tour de France.
Vingegaard, who had a highly successful year including victories at Paris-Nice, the Volta a Catalunya, and the Giro d'Italia, stated that the injury has delayed his training and made it impossible to return to top competitive levels in the short term. As a result, he will miss the upcoming World Championships in Montreal, Canada.
The 29-year-old Danish rider is now shifting his focus toward an optimal preparation for the 2027 season. While some insiders have speculated about his long-term motivation following the injury, Vingegaard and his team are prioritizing recovery and setting specific goals for his return in 2027.
