Jonas Vingegaard's World Championship participation debated

Former professional cyclist Michael Rasmussen has advised the Danish national team to leave Jonas Vingegaard out of the upcoming World Championships in Montréal. Rasmussen expressed concerns regarding Vingegaard’s physical condition following a broken collarbone sustained during the Tour de France.

Speaking to Viaplay, Rasmussen argued that Vingegaard’s participation might create ‘unnecessary expectations’ that the two-time Tour de France winner may not be able to meet. He suggested that Denmark has other strong options for the challenging course, such as Mattias Skjelberg.

In contrast, Mads Pedersen has expressed a desire to see Vingegaard in the Danish selection. In his ‘Lang Distance’ podcast, the Lidl-Trek rider encouraged his compatriot to participate, believing there is sufficient time for recovery before the event on September 27.
