Jonathan Pollard warns Israel may target Turkey and Egypt in next war
Former U.S. citizen Jonathan Pollard, who served a prison term for spying for Israel and now lives in the country, told the Israeli outlet Arutz Sheva that Israel should prepare for a future conflict against Turkey and Egypt. He linked the possibility to a scenario where Syria attempts to reclaim the Golan Heights, which could bring Turkish forces to Israel’s borders. Pollard said Israel must first resolve tensions with Iran and Hezbollah and noted the complication of Turkey’s NATO membership.
Pollard, released in 2015 after decades of lobbying by pro‑Israeli groups, has entered Israeli politics and previously ran for parliament on a platform calling for the relocation of Gaza’s Palestinian residents to Ireland. His remarks reflect a personal assessment rather than an official policy statement.
