Jongno-gu announces Chuseok holiday parking and economic measures
Jongno-gu is implementing a comprehensive set of measures for the upcoming Chuseok holiday to support residents, visitors, and tourists. From September 24 to 27, the district will suspend parking enforcement in residential backstreets and areas surrounding traditional markets, such as Gwangjang Market and Tongin Market. This suspension includes enforcement via 196 CCTV locations and mobile patrol vehicles. However, enforcement will continue in safety-critical zones, including crosswalks, bus stops, fire facilities, and child or elderly protection zones.
To alleviate parking shortages, eight local schools—including Cheongun Elementary, Sangmyung Girls' High School, and Seoul Arts High School—will open 290 parking spaces for public use during the holiday period. Additionally, the district will issue 2.5 billion won worth of Jongno Love Gift Certificates at a 5% discount via the Seoul Pay+ app to stimulate local consumption.
The district is also launching an online direct trade market featuring agricultural products and gift sets from various partner cities and provinces. To ensure public safety and manage emergencies, a comprehensive situation room will operate from the evening of September 23 through the morning of September 28, deploying 178 staff members to monitor disaster response, fire safety, and medical emergencies.
